Pursuant to section 37 of the Strata Schemes Management Act 2015, all strata committee members are required to complete annual training. The purpose of this training is to equip committee members with the knowledge, skills and practical understanding necessary to effectively manage and oversee their strata schemes.
NSW Fair Trading will provide one free mandatory training module each year. In addition to this module, strata committee members must complete further training through an approved training provider.
For the 2026 to 2027 financial year, strata committee members are required to complete either a minimum of one hour of interactive training, delivered online or in person by an approved provider, or two hours of self paced training delivered by an approved provider.
Interactive Training Option
Each interactive training course, whether delivered online or in person, must run for a minimum of one hour.
In person sessions are limited to a maximum of 60 participants per session, while online interactive sessions are capped at 40 participants per session.
Where training is conducted online, providers must ensure that participants keep their cameras switched on for the duration of the session to confirm their attendance for the entire module.
Do I have to do CPD?
If you’re a property agent who holds a class 1 licence, class 2 licence or a certificate of registration (Assistant Agent), you must complete the CPD specified for your licence or certificate category each year.
What topics do I complete?
You must complete 12 points of CPD each year. Archer Institute offers a combination of Category 2 (4 points) and Category 3 (8 points) to meet these requirements.
Do I need to record anything?
Licence and certificate holders must retain their own records of all CPD they complete.
It is the licence or certificate holders responsibility to ensure they meet their mandatory CPD requirements every year.
Can I complete CPD online?
For students completing ACT CPD, you are able to complete online at your own pace.
However, for students who also wish to complete the NSW CPD components as your Category 2, this will need to be completed face to face to meet the requirements.
